Donation to the Jack Boericke Foundation
We have donated £1000 to the Jack Boericke Foundation from this year's race with a £1 donation from every entry and the saved monies from those who said ‘no’ to a t-shirt.
James Marler, the founder of the Foundation, sent a thank you message letting us know they are putting on an event in Battersea Park with members of Jack Boericke's school so the donation will go to good use.

Carbon neutral race and using the journey planner
Since 2008 the annual Crystal Palace Triathlon has been carbon neutral and each year the club looks to ways in which it can reduce the environmental impact from putting on a top class race. In 2010 it was voted Triathlete’s World British Triathlon Event of the Year and the 2011 race will be run to the high environmental standards that you would expect for such a prestigious award.
After the race we will be looking at how we did on reducing our environmental impact, and you can support us with this. We will be asking all the competitors, marshals, organisers, and spectators to help us minimize the carbon footprint from the race. As organisers, we will be reducing, reusing and recycling as much as possible but it’s important to remember that the largest part of the footprint comes from people driving to the race. This year we are again partnering with Jambusters to operate a car share so people can share lifts to the race - the details are below - although we also want to give people the choice of coming to Crystal Palace without needing to take a car in the first place. That is why this year we are including details of the local buses, trains and trams that, on the day, can bring everybody to the park.
Wherever you live or wherever you are coming from, please plan your complete journey using the handy planner below and see if there is a car free option to getting to the race.
And if YOU can’t avoid coming by car – we know how much kit we all carry – suggest to your wife, husband, kids, friends or neighbours that they should look at how they can get to the race without it!
Once there look out for the recycling and composting bins and help us run the race without it costing the earth – go on, be a good sport!
- help reduce CO2
- reduce journey times
- share fuel and parking costs
- meet new people
We've teamed up with Jambusters to make that easier. You can ask your fellow travellers for a contribution to costs and save some money on your own travel, or maybe don't bring a car at all. There are also links to various public transport and journey planner websites. If you are interested in car sharing please register on the Jambusters CPT car share website.
