London League races 2017

The London League races for 2017 have now been confirmed. Get the dates in your diary and start entering.

Only new members who didn't race in 2016 and those selected for the CPT Team can race at the Crystal Palace Triathlon.

Results - 23 + 26-27 November

Rob race at the Inter Financial Services Cross Country Championships on Wednesday 23 November. It's 5¾ mile XC race in Richmond Park.

This race is open to everyone who works in financial services. If anyone from the Club qualifies but doesn’t know about the race, they can contact Rob and I’ll get them on the distribution list. It’s an excellent event.

Rob and Matt raced #4 in the SERRL Winter Crit series on Saturday 26 November.

Rob was busy again on Sunday, this time racing Round 9 of the London X League with Dan. Rob says it was a savage course which broke him! He slowed up at the end to purposely get double lapped and avoid having to go round again! Dan's finish position will be amended, as his timing chip didn't work crossing the finish line so looked as though he'd done one slow first lap, whereas really he'd done two!

Dave did the Movember 10k at Greenwich Park.

Kent X Country - Round 4 results

Round 4 of the Kent X Country took place in Danson Park. This round was women only. Hannah was the first CPT runner over the line, which takes her into 2nd place overall in the individual league. As we had 6 runners we were 10th in the 3 to score and 6th in the 6 to score.

Another first!

Congratulations to Alex Yee who came first in the U20s Liverpool Cross Challenge incorporating the European Cross Country Championships Trials.

Goodbye and thanksPaulSadly, we say goodbye to our performance swim coach, Paul, who coached his last session at Trinity this evening.

On behalf of everyone at CPT, a very big thank you and all the very best for your new life in Leeds.

British Triathlon AwardsAlex - British Triathlon Male Elite Duathlete of the Year 2016Congratulations to Alex Yee who was announced as the 2016 British Triathlon Male Elite Duathlete of the Year at last night's awards ceremony.

It's not too late to vote for Alex in the Athletics Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards 2016, votes close on 1 December. He's also been shortlisted for SportsAid's One-to-Watch Award.

Weekend results - 12-13 November + a late one

Kevin, Chris & Lisa at the White Rose Ultra 2016A late result from last weekend's White Rose Ultra, a 30 mile run in the Colne Valley in Yorkshire. As if 30 miles isn't long enough, Kev decided to do an extra 1.4 miles after going off course. Unfortunately Lisa's time is missing from the results. I'll her in if I find her time, Chris assures me she finished just ahead of him while he was taking GoPro footage!

Saturday saw the third leg in the Kent X Country league at Sparrow's Den. Matt was the first CPT runner over the line and that was after coming first at the morning's Crystal Palace parkrun! We had 11 runners so unfortunately one short for the Men's 12s team but we are still doing well overall (team pic below). Tom took on the Ballbuster, running and cycling up and around Box Hill and his time has also been added to the PBs page.

On Sunday, Kati came 2nd overall at the Women only Velopark Duathlon organised by Clapham Chasers, while Mark, Phil, Dave and Brigit braved a very muddy Beckenham 10k Trail Run.

London Region awards

Great to see so many CPT members, both juniors and seniors, at Doggets Bar on Blackfriars Bridge for the Triathlon London Awards Night, where Gillian Sanders, Rio Olympian and our very own Alex Yee were the guest speakers.

Our Men's team came 3rd, our Female and Mixed teams came 1st and we were 2nd in the Mob Match. We also did really well in the individual age groups, with just three of the CPT podium triathletes being absent on the night so unable to pick up their own trophies (we should have won another prize for being the best turned out club on the night!).

F20-24 - 2nd - Sophie Ovens
F25-29 - 1st - Hannah Ewens, 2nd - Natasha Raggett
F40-44 - 1st - Suse Fairfax
F45-49 - 3rd - Brigit Brown
F50-54 - 2nd - Ruki Sidhwa
F55-59 - 1st - Louise Alan-Smith

M20-24 - 2nd - James Brewer
M25-29 - 1st - Mike Dowds
M35-39 - 1st - Rob Parry
M40-44 - 2nd - Victor Thompson
M45-49 - 3rd - Trevor Chilton
M50-54 - 1st - Greg Lewis, 2nd - Jon Horsman
M55-59 - 1st - Gareth Robson
M60-64 - 2nd - Noel Murphy

Rob and Kevin Freeman also won 1st and 2nd prizes for the Midnight Man Middle Distance race.

Dan Pinn was given a special award for his coaching support with the Region's juniors.

John Petrides was awarded regional Technical Officer of the Year.

We also won London Region Event of the Year!

Full results can be seen on the London Region website.
