CPT in action

NashWelcome to new member Nash Pradhan. Nash's son is a junior member at CPT.

London Marathon

Congratulations to Gary for running the London Marathon with his daughter Phoebe. Gary won the Club place in the draw which took place at the AGM.

If you want a chance to represent CPT in next year's Marathon, you need to marshal at our race on 15 May and attend the AGM with your rejection letter if you don't get a place in the ballot.

London League update - Kingfisher Aquathlon

So after Thames Turbo was cancelled due to Storm Katie, the Kingfisher Aquathlon became Round 1 of the 2016 London League series. Well done to everyone who took part, in what I hear was another excellent event put on by Kingfisher Triathletes, with an added bonus of a couple of mud features installed on the 9k trail run course.

Men's Team - 4th: Mike Dowds, Jon Horsman, Tom Vincent. Ful-on Tri stole this one with the overall win and five of the top 20, with Serpentine and Clapham Chasers in 2nd and 3rd, but good results from our Men's team nonetheless (Jon won his age group, and Tom joins the team for the first time I believe, right Tom?). The great news is that the other London clubs seem to be stepping up to challenge our three year winning streak of the men's comp, so it should be an interesting year!

Ladies Team – No Ranking: Despite Tash Raggett clocking the fastest female swim split of the day (2nd overall!), and finishing 12th, she needed two other CPT women to join her in making what could have been a very strong team! So ladies, please get involved in the future events. Your Club (and Tash) needs you!

Mixed Team – No Ranking: All of the above, but not enough to make up a full team. Not to worry, we have plenty of races left.

Mob Match – 5th : All the above plus Trevor Chilton, Andy McRobbie, Steve Harris, Charles Greenwood, Gareth Robson and Michael Doble. Great racing from all of you.

Junior elite super series trials

Congratulations to Dan who attended the Junior elite super series trials last weekend and made the qualification cut-off. After a disappointing swim trial on the Saturday (his words!) Dan then produced a really strong bike and run and gained an additional 23 places on the competition to finish in a creditable 26th. Alex won the event in some style!

parkrun mob match 2016

Dave, our run coordinator, has organised another parkrun mob match between CPT, Windrush and Greenwich Tritons. The last one took place in 2012 and was won by Windrush.

The dates are 7 May at Greenwich; 4 June at Brockwell Park and 9 July at Crystal Palace.

Dave will be sending further details out soon, but put the dates in your diary and if you've never done a parkrun before, you can register for free and don't forget to put CPT as your club.

Results - 10 April

Dan winning the Thames Turbo Junior DuathlonJon, Peter and Gareth represented CPT at the Thames Turbo Duathlon at Kempton Park Race Course, with Jon winning the MSV category. Congratulations to Dan on winning the Junior (17-19) Thames Turbo Duathlon. Alex ran the Vienna Marathon.

Glyn and Kati took part at the Sydenham Wheelers CC - John Tully Memorial 25-mile time trial.  It's an annual event in memory of Glyn's father.

Congratulations to Kati for being first lady in her first ever time trial, winning a cash prize!

She says it was lovely going up and down the A20 near Maidstone!

Portocolom 111 Mallorca - 10 April

Kirsten and Selwyn in MallorcaKirsten and Selwyn say the Portocolom 111 was one of their toughest races to date.

For those who know Mallorca, the race involved climbing Sant Salvador, a 5k switchback climb to 500 metres... twice!

Luckily there was only a 10k run to finish up as the legs wouldn't go any further.

Fabulous closed road race with lots of local support and beautiful scenery to get you to the finish line... one for the diary next year?

Racing down under - 10 April

Haydn racing in PerthHaydn reports from Perth, where winter is coming, with a couple of storms and heavy rain although it's still warm - 25 to 30c.

It came good yesterday though for the Sun Smart sprint triathlon which was the last of a series of five races running since December.

The swim turned into a non wetsuit job which wasn't expected but despite the cold I enjoyed the 750m and did a very creditable, for me at least, 13min 20s.

The 20k bike was fast and undulating and the 5k run an out and back course along the coast.

I finished 6th in the 55/59 age group which was disappointing as I'd forgotten that the age categories were as of December last. Happy with my times though and a great day in glorious sunshine.

Lauren was second in her age group, and third in the series overall. Just the Busselton 70.3 now at the end of the month. That meant 40 minutes of run reps after the race last night and a 3k swim session this morning!

On Sunday 3 April, members raced at the Reading Half Marathon, Paddock Wood Half Marathon, Windsor Duathlon and Windsor Duathlon Junior Elite and congratulations to Louise on being the first lady across the line at the Fast & Furious duathlon.

Matt got a new PB at the Paris Marathon. Sadly he was one minute off a good for age qualifying time for London, but he hopes to make it in Berlin in September.

A special mention goes to Alex Yee for his 3rd place at the Quarteira ETU Triathlon Junior European Cup.

Dan at the Windsor Duathlon

Claire and Ruki did the 65 mile option at the Herts Easter Hunt sportive and were rewarded with Easter eggs at the finish.

Lee Valley Velodrome - 2 April

Thanks to Selwyn for organising another trip to the Lee Valley Velodrome.

We had a mixture of 'experienced' track cyclists and some new to the fun. It was a great session!
