Club and London League update

Report from Rob Parry, League Coordinator

The Jekyll & Hyde Duathlon last weekend was the 10th and final round of the London League. Well done and thanks to all who got out there and raced for the Club. The final series scores have been calculated, with CPT hitting the podium again in every contest for the third year running!

Men's Team: 1st
Ladies Team: 2nd
Mixed Team: 2nd
Mob Match 2nd

The following Club members have podiumed in the individual age group competition:

1st F25-29: Hannah Ewens
1st M25-29: Mike Dowds
1st M35-39: Rob Parry
1st M50-54: Greg Lewis
2nd F50-54: Helen Garrett
3rd F25-29: Tash Raggett
3rd M40-44: Josh Groenendijk

The awards night is on Saturday 7 November at the Robert Perks Banquet room at Central Hall in Westminster from 18:30, so hopefully see you all there.

The teams for the Jekyll & Hyde were as follows:

Mens (3rd): Jack Hambleton, Rob Parry, Greg Lewis
Ladies (3rd): Hannah Ewens, Suse Fairfax, Helen Garrett
Mixed (3rd): All of the above
Mob Match (2nd): All the above plus Gary Schroder, Matt White, Vic Thompson, Kevin Freeman, Hans Geberbauer, Martin Rafferty, Wim Geberbauer, Rob Buckler, Dave Crockwell, Louise Alan-Smith and Gary Blunt.

Well done to everyone who made the teams this year:

CPT Men's Team 2015: Josh Groenendijk, Andrew Tappin, Phil Vickers, Alex Yee, Mike Dowds, Dan Pinn, Graeme Blair, Jon Horsman, Rob Parry, Greg Lewis, Trevor Chilton, Gareth Robson, Jack Hambleton

CPT Ladies Team 2015: Hannah Ewens, Josie Dow, Harriet Lamb, Lisa Buchanan, Tash Raggett, Jane Ford, Jilly Dolphin, Cathy Cooke, Helen Garrett, Hannah Ewens, Sheila Horsman, Holly Robson, Louise Alan-Smith, Suse Fairfax

Jekyll & Hyde was also round 20 of the Club League. A few have improved their scores, but no changes to the podium positions:

Senior men: Michael Dowds, Rob Parry, Jack Hambleton
Male vets: Jon Horsman, Selwyn Smith, Graeme Blair
Male senior vets: Greg Lewis, Martin Leat, Gareth Robson

Senior women: Hannah Ewens, Lisa Buchanan, Natasha Raggett
Female vets: Cathy Cooke
Female senior vets: Helen Garrett, Louise Alan-Smith, Karen Ayers

Will there be any more rounds in the league? If you can get at least four of your Club mates to join you in a multisport race between now and the awards night (and get it up on the race matrix), you'll be able to count that as a league race.

Club and London League update

Report from our League Coordinator Rob Parry

London Fields this weekend was Round 9 of the London League, and Round 19 of our intra-club league. With 17 CPTers putting in great performances, there are a few changes to the league positions, and as I hadn't reported back on Round 8 of the London/Club League event, and have another sub-11 Ironman result for the Long Distance Club Champs to report, I'll cover this all below.

Club League
Round 19 helped many CPTers improve their scores. Hannah Ewens has now joined our Chairman, Greg Lewis in the illustrious “Perfect 1” club (3x age group wins). Gareth Robson has nudged into 3rd place on the MSV podium and Mike Dowds is now top of the MS podium after placing 2nd overall at London Fields.

Only J&H left that qualifies as a Club League race for this year, but not too late to get some more in, if you can find four friends from the Club willing to join you in a last minute multi-sport event!

Females
Senior: Hannah Ewens, Lisa Buchanan, Natasha Raggett
Vets: Cathy Cooke
Supervets: Helen Garrett, Louise Alan-Smith, Karen Ayers

Males
Senior: Michael Dowds, Rob Parry, Jack Hambleton
Vets: Jon Horsman, Selwyn Smith, Graeme Blair
Supervets: Greg Lewis, Martin Leat, Gareth Robson

London League – Round 9
London Fields Tri Club once again hosted a great event with their Aquathlon, and CPT swept the board, winning every team event!! Teams as follows, and current overall league standings:

Men’s Team - 1st: Mike Dowds, Greg Lewis, Rob Parry. With Alex Yee attending to other triathlon commitments, the men’s team had their work cut out.

Ladies Team – 2nd: Hannah Ewens, Suse Fairfax, Tash Raggett. Strong performance from the three, with Hannah taking the overall win and Suse the age group win.

Mixed Team – 2nd: All of the above.

Mob Match – 2nd : All the above plus Dan Pinn, Vic Thompson, Jane Ford, Gareth Robson, Mat Fahey, Matt Lawley, Helen Garrett, Louise Alan-Smith, Dave Crockwell, Michelle Fahey and Karen Ayers.

London League – Round 8
Round 8 was hosted by Capital Tri, and was a 1k swim/10k run aquathlon. With only four of us out, and two injured (me and Jack), we had no chance of scoring any points. Initial results were incomplete, but Hannah Ewens was 3rd overall female and our men's team consisted of Josh, myself and Jack.

Long Distance Club Champs
Kevin Freeman’s 10h57 at Ironman Barcelona nudges him into 3rd in the Club Champs, joining myself and Selwyn on the podium.

Good luck to everyone at Jekyll & Hyde. For some it’s been a long season, but dig in and make sure you keep trying to overtake members of other clubs until they’re all behind you! Club duathlon champs too, so all to play for.

Changes to the training schedule

The 06:00-07:00 swim at Crystal Palace has moved from Thursday to Tuesday.

The HHV public sessions are now finished until next spring. You can still get your velodrome fix as we have our own private Club sessions running through the winter, from 19:30-21:00 every Tuesday.

You must have paid the annual training fee in order to attend these sessions.

There is no swim at Trinity on Friday 9 October, due to a gala. There will be a Circuits/Conditioning session from 19:30-21:00 at the South London Scout Centre instead.

See the training-schedule for full details.

Results - 4 October

Congratulations to Kevin for breaking 11 hours at Ironman Barcelona. Kevin's time has been added to the Ironman Roll of Honour.

At the London Fields Aquathlon, part of the London League, Hannah was 1st female and Mike was 2nd male overall, with Greg 2nd in the M40+ category and Suse 1st in the F30-39.

Gary will be pleased with himself as he beat his daughter at the Tonbridge Half Marathon.

Club League update

Report from our League Coordinator Rob Parry

Update of the Club League for the end of September, with the Sundowner Middle Distance and Challenge Weymouth added since the last update and a belatedly the Midnight Man Aquabike back in August where Dan Duran and Karen Ayers got top scores.

Females
Senior: Hannah Ewens, Lisa Buchanan, Natasha Raggett
Vets: Cathy Cooke
Supervets: Helen Garrett, Louise Alan-Smith, Karen Ayers

Males
Senior: Rob Parry, Michael Dowds, Jack Hambleton
Vets: Jon Horsman, Selwyn Smith, Graeme Blair
Supervets: Greg Lewis, Martin Leat, David Crockwell

If you want to give your campaign a last minute surge, then consider rounding up at least four of your Club mates, and enter a multisport race (before the Christmas party), and make sure it’s on the matrix!

Sunday rides update

Starting from this Sunday 4 October, we will be having three led ability groups for the Sunday Club ride, starting with four different routes:
Pilgrims Way +, Box Hill, Penshurst and Knatts Valley (detailed information of routes will be added to the cycle routes page as we go).

The selected rides are of varying distances and gradients but are as flat as we could choose in the local Kent / Surrey areas, this will hopefully help to keep groups together.

It's the responsibility of riders to be skilled enough to ride safely in group formation in both single and double lines when required and to know group cycling etiquette.

Please support these rides and the ride leaders and arrive early enough to select your ability group.
