Fambridge Middle Distance Results & Club Champs

Rob reports the Fambridge Yacht Haven Middle Distance Triathlon is a good low key event with enthusiastic marshalls and crowds. The swim was in a river with a strong current which increased the distance for many of us, the bike was a mostly-flat two lapper into the Essex countryside, and the run was four laps of mixed terrain, with decent support in places. A couple of CPTers came to support, and we had a good post-race social in the pub whilst we waited for the awards ceremony where Lisa collected her haul of prizes!

Hans added 'There was quite a strong breeze which made for choppy conditions during the swim and for an irritatingly persistent head wind on half the bike course'.

Looks like it was an exciting race, with just seconds between husband and wife, John and Lisa, PBs for Selwyn, Martin and Kirsten, and age group podiums for Rob and Emma, as well as Lisa's overall female win.

View photos.

Congratulations to our Middle Distance Club Champions Rob and Lisa. Please remember you must be wearing Club kit to qualify for the Club Championships. It also makes it easier for checking and verifying results if you enter races as a member of CPT.

London League Update Race 7

Can you believe we’re now seven rounds into the London League contest for this year, with only three races left?

Windrush Stag - MatWindrush put on another excellent event with their Aquathlon, although not everyone from the CPT team seemed to be taking things seriously enough. We had a stag and four of his party roll in full of steak and wine, and not quite conforming to the Club’s strict kit code, the hen and her group who were nowhere to be seen, and one individual who thought a sensible taper strategy would be to run a 14m 09s 5000m at 9pm the night before…

Men’s Team: holding 1st Place. Top Score at Windrush. Alex Yee (aforementioned individual, who now holds the course record), Me (speedo chafed) and Greg Lewis (1st MSV)

Ladies Team: holding 2nd: Hannah Ewens, Holly Robson and Louise Alan-Smith

Mixed Team: down to 2nd!!. All of the above

Mob Match, holding  2nd: All of the above, plus Selwyn Smith (speedo chafed), Paul Clark, Mark Thomas, Martin Leat, Mat Fahey (speedo chafed + huge hat and superman cape),  Martin Rafferty, Grant Georgiades (ripped speedos), Karen Ayers, Brigit Brown and Jilly Dolphin

Bit of a break now, with Capital Tri the next one on the 6 September. A unique one as a 1k/10k aquathlon format, but the venue looks good so should be fun. Enter now if you’re free.
