Sessions for new, recovering and/or struggling runners
We will be trialling a short series of run sessions on the following Wednesday evenings: from 5 November until Christmas: 5/11, 12/11, 19/11, 26/11, 3/12, 10/12 from 20:00 to 21:00 aimed at helping members who are new to competitive running and/or returning from injury and/or not quite ready to join the main Club run session on Wednesday evening. It is hoped that these sessions will lead to members joining or rejoining the main session over time.
Scott Wise will be leading the sessions which will be based in the Ismay Room at the South East London Scout Centre on Grange Lane.
The hour will be structured to include an extended warm-up (largely inside) strength and technique focussed run sets (outside) and then stretch and strength work (back inside!).
It will be useful to bring an exercise mat, towel and drink to the session.
There will be a £5 session fee for those who are not annual training members.
Club League update - No 7
The London Fields Aquathlon (also a London League event) is the latest race to qualify for our Club League. Well done to Greg Lewis who won his club league age group.

Female seniors: Suse Fairfax, Lisa Buchanan, Josie Dow
Female vets: Cathy Cooke, Ruki Sidhwa
Female supervets: Louise Alan Smith, Sally Kidson

According to the race matrix we have another two events this year with a chance to get Club League points - Half Challenge Paguera and Jekyll and Hyde Duathlon. Good luck to those racing.
Training on Tuesday 28 October
There won't be any swimming at St Joseph's next Tuesday. All other sessions will run as normal during half term..
Come to Herne Hill Velodrome instead! The last public session of the season runs from 18:00-20:00. CPT only (annual training fee members) from 20:00-21:00. Fingers crossed for dry weather!
Weekend results - 18-19 October
Congratulations to Team CPT racing the half distance Challenge Paguera in Majorca on 18 October, especially to Suse who was 3rd female in the Open category.
Apparently it was very hot, particularly on the run, and there were a lot of DNFs, but not from CPT!
On Sunday Glyn completed the Amsterdam Half Marathon and Pete the Althorp Duathlon.
Saturday brick session - 18 October
Great brick session in Crystal Palace Park on Saturday, coached by Audrey. Good to see so many new members being put through their paces. The focus was on duathlon / transition training but still worthwhile for those of us who don't do duathlons.
Look out for Haydn's emails about the next session on Saturday 22 November.

Winter training - Saturday rides
Back by popular request are our regular Saturday road rides for our novice, less-experienced and slower paced riders.
Scott Wise will once again be leading these out and providing the support and guidance which has proved so effective in building the confidence and skills of our members on the road.
Dates: 11 October, 8 November, 6 December, 3 January, 31 January, 28 February, 28 March and 25 April.
Time: Prompt 09:15 departure from Elmers End with aim of returning by 11:30
Route: A variety of routes with the intention of helping riders to know the area and build on all riding skills
Speed: The group will travel to accommodate the speed of the slowest members, however you will need to feel comfortable covering at least 16k an hour, changing gear easily and able to maintain this pace for two hours before embarking on this session. Making use of the Tuesday evening velodrome sessions and the monthly brick sessions would be good starting points to build some speed and endurance before heading out on the road if in doubt.
Equipment: Bike in good working order, spare inner tube, pump, water bottle, mobile phone, water/windproof layer, helmet are essential.
Cost: Included in annual training membership and £5 for PAYG
Please let Sally know if you would like to join this group and also confirm if you can attend on 11 October.
We also hope members wanting a shorter ride on Saturday morning will meet up same time and same place so faster, more experienced riders can join others of like mind/pace.
Winter training - Saturday brick sessions
The Saturday brick sessions are an opportunity to work on your strength and speed for bike and run and have some fun at the same time.
Designed to cater for all ability levels you will be combining both cycling (usually a turbo set) and running during these sessions which will be held over what is generally considered the off season in the UK. Other practical skills/refreshers will also be introduced from time to time such as transition and core strength activities.
‘All ability levels’ means just that, (absolute beginners to GB age grouper) and the session provides a great opportunity to meet other Club members in a relaxed and fun environment. Gain from the experience of others whether it be events for 2015, training, injury, nutrition, etc. to help you improve your performance.
If you don’t have your own turbo trainer CPT has a number which can be borrowed by contacting Coach Jon Horsman prior to the session. So definitely no excuses.
If you have any questions please contact Haydn.
Dates: Saturday 18 October, 22 November, 13 December, 24 January and 21 February.
Cost: Included in your annual payment or £10 for PAYG members.
London League update - London Fields Aquathlon
Well done and great work to everyone who participated in the London Fields Aquathlon on Sunday.
As for the results and the London League rankings… well, looks like CPT completely bossed it!
Congrats to Alex Yee for the overall win. Incredible 22m17 could well be the course record!
Alex, Mike Dowds and Greg Lewis make up the winning men's team
Suse Fairfax 2nd overall female, with Suse, Natasha Raggett and Cathy Cooke making up the CPT female team (not sure what position that is as the provisional results don't give club names, but could be the overall win)
Alex, Mike, Greg, Suse and Natasha making up the mixed team, who could well have taken the mixed title as well (TBC)
Great results from Dan Pinn, Mark Thomas, Josh Groenendijk, Andre Whyte, Josie Dow, Matt Lawley, Jane Ford, Dave Crockwell, Louise Alan-Smith, Ruki Sidwa, Claire McGinley, Fay Sutton (soooo sorry if i missed anyone out!!) so 17 great results for CPT out of 135 finishers has to put us in good stead for the mob match too.
I'll let you know when the region committee have officially calculated the results (may be quicker this time around as they are from LFTC). Last round is Jekyll & Hyde on the 26th, followed by celebrations round at Han's place. Now full but tons of us racing. Good luck with the duathlon training from now till then - perhaps some aqua jogging at the Thursday 6am swim session ;-)
London Region Awards
Please join us at the official Triathlon London awards/party to celebrate the end of another successful season of friendly competition between the London clubs. It's a good chance to network with those who you might only ever see covered in sweat and lycra! There are also individual awards and junior prizes

Great invitation artwork from our Club Secretary, Lisa Buchanan.
Welcome to new member Wojtek Popiel.
Weekend results - 4-5 October
Congratulations to Graeme on his 3rd place at the Medway Off-road Duathlon on Saturday.
Looks like we had a good turnout at the London Fields Aquathlon this morning so hope there's good news from Rob re the London League soon. Congratulations to Alex Yee (one of our junior members) who won the event and set a new course record, Mike 3rd male and Suse 2nd female. I haven't added any other age-group places as it looks as though the provisional results need some tidying up but there were quite a few PBs. Well done CPT!
Welcome to new members Adam Green and Paul Manson.
