CPT in action

Weekend results - 30-31 August

A relatively quiet weekend compared to the frenzy of activity over the past month. One highlight was a bit of middle distance action around Rutland Water with the ever popular Vitruvian; Chris Hall being the only CPT'er to pick up the gauntlet!

Weekend results - 23-24 August

Another successful session was held at the Olympic Velodrome on Saturday 23 August, with some members experiencing an indoor track for the first time.

Rob - Xterra EnglandKeith, Haydn and Rob competed at Xterra England Championship on Saturday on the Vachery Estate in Cranleigh, Surrey. Rob says "The event was really well organised, and the course was challenging and fun. Fresh from his Xterra European tour (including representing GB at the ITU Age Group Cross Tri World Champs in Zittau, Germany), Keith continued his good form to win his age group and a slot at the Xterra World Champs this October in Kona, beating a few of the pros in the process! I had a very frustrating bike leg as my chain refused to stay in place, so was just happy to finish as it was very tempting to drop out on the multi lap course! We all had a great day though and agreed that we will definitley be back next year".

Congratulations to Dan Pinn who was first junior at the QEOP Duathlon on Sunday 24 August.

A few members completed the Hertfordshire 100 sportive on Sunday.

Andrew and Louise braved the wet for the Thames Turbo Sprint Triathlon on Bank Holiday Monday. Congratulations to Louise on her 2nd place in the FSV category.

ALS ice bucket challenge

Good to see CPT kit isn't just being used for racing, but also for raising funds in the ALS ice-bucket challenge.

Well done Tommy, Selwyn and Mat!

You can donate £5 by texting ICED55 to 70070.

Weekend results - 16-17 August

A belated result from last weekend, well done to Keith for racing at Xterra Czech.

Josie and Dan with their trophiesOur Middle Distance Club Championships took place at the Midnight Man Half. Congratulations to Rob and Suse on winning the Club honours. Suse was also the overall female winner and Josie was 3rd.

Dan and Karen took the honours in the Midnight Man Aquabike (an Ironman distance race without the run) and Don Debono joins the Ironman Roll of Honour with his impressive 5th place at the full distance Midnight Man.

Tommy at Ironman KalmarThe bike course was particularly tough as the wind got stronger as the night wore on, 10 laps for the half and 20 laps for the long. Support also grew more sparse as the night wore on but we all kept going. Unfortunately there were a couple of casualties on the run, after stomach cramps on the bike, but a very impressive bike time from Lisa.

Congratulations also to Tommy who completed Ironman Kalmar in Sweden, knocking almost 1 hour and 20 minutes off his previous long distance time. His time has also been added to the Ironman Roll of Honour.

We had a few members race at the London League Splash & Dash Aquathlon, but unfortunately not enough to make up a CPT team.

Great Pier Swim - 9 August

Angie, Kirsten and Selwyn did the Great Pier Swim in Southend on Saturday.

Selwyn reports "The tide and wind were against each other so the sea was fairly choppy. But against the tide we sailed through the pier to the finish line with some titanic times (luckily we didn’t sink!). Kirsten got first wetsuit woman but a wieldy women without wetsuit topped the table!".

Selwyn will be encouraging more members to enter next year .

CPT ready to goRide 100 - 10 August

Congratulations to everyone who completed the Ride 100 yesterday in such dreadful weather conditions.

Unfortunately the route had to be shortened to 86 miles, taking out Box Hill and Leith Hill (I'm sure I heard Audrey give a very loud cheer!). I'm sure you were all on for PBs if the torrential rain hadn't stopped play.

Good to see some CPT kit on display!

Audrey and Fintan before the rain!

London League update - Windrush Aquathlon

Slight delay in reporting back from the Windrush Aquathlon, but I'm holding off on these until the London Region Committee officially calculate the results. Well they announced this yesterday, so I can now put you all out of your misery!

Men’s Team – Still 1st:  (Rob Parry, Greg Lewis & Brian Morris) The results have us in 2nd behind Ful-On, but your eagle-eyed racing coordinator spotted and raised this and has been told it will be fixed after the next race. Although Ful-On came 1st and 2nd, they had no third man, so our 2nd, 4th and 13th was enough to take the top spot.

Female Team – up 2 to 2nd: (Josie Dow, Ruki Sidwa & Brigit Brown) Great work ladies! Just one point off LFTC now!

Mixed Team – also up 2 to 2nd: (Rob, Greg, Brian, Josie & Ruki) Only 1 pont behind SLH!

Mob Match – Still 1st: (Above ppl + Matin Leat, Mat Fahey, Andrew Parsons, Phil Vickers, Andre Whyte, Tom Suddaby, Dave Crockwell, James Mullarkey, Claire McGinley and Fay Sutton) Huge representation from the CPT crew has seen us take the top spot. Mission accomplished!

Overall – Up one spot to 1st: We've done it! On average we are number one in London! only 3 races to go now and the League is ours to lose. Being a member of the best triathlon club in the region is pretty cool, isn't it. If you've raced in these London League events then this is because of you. If you haven't yet, and like this warm fuzzy feeling, then drop everything and enter the next two races so that you can 'do your bit'.

Hope to see many of you at Splash and Dash (I'll be there on very tired legs after MIdnight Man the night before, so expecting a slow shuffle and just hoping for a finish and a couple of league points!)

Results - 2-3 August

Graeme coming out of the swim at BewlOn Saturday a few members did the Bewl Triathlon without wetsuits. Unfortunately Dean had a mechanical which led to him doing the whole cycle leg in a choice of two gears, big and very big!

Congratulations to Dan who took on the SuperSprint distance at the London Triathlon and won! Two hours later he, Alex and friend went on to win the Sprint Relay (pictured below).

Louise came 2nd in her age group at the Sprint distance and Mark won his in the Standard distance. Well done to both!
