Weekend results - 25-26 May

Kirsten and Selwyn in EdinburghSelwyn and Kirsten completed the Edinburgh Half Marathon this morning, in wet conditions. Only the top 10 finisher times are being made public, the rest of the results are only available to competitors, very strange? We'll have to wait to see if they decide to share their times!

Update: They have revealed their times! Kirsten was pleased with her time and Selwyn was chuffed his legs survived after two back-to-back middle distance races.

Andy took part in the first Velopark Duathlon at the Olympic Park.

Louise collecting her 1st place FSV trophy at the Hercules TriathlonKeith and Richard headed to Elveden, not to Centre Parcs, but to The Tear Jerker Triathlon, billed as East Anglia's toughest off-road triathlon.

A few CPT members headed north to Welwyn Garden City for the Hercules Festival of Sport, with Rich and Glyn doing the Middle Distance and Victor, Louise (1st FSV) and Danielle opting for the Sprint.

Andreas and Marie raced the third Thames Turbo Sprint Triathlon.

Weekend results - 17-18 May

Sorry for the late results, I've been a bit busy this week sorting out trophies and lost property, timing issues etc.

Thanks, once again, to everyone who marshaled on Sunday and/or helped set up on Saturday. We were very lucky with the weather, but it was another great race, with lots of positive feedback from competitors. The overriding theme of the feedback is how much everyone appreciates our friendly, supportive and knowledgeable marshals. Read the full race report on the Tri 24/7 website.

Congratulations to Rob Parry for winning our very own Crystal Palace Triathlon, with Greg 1st MSV, Brian 3rd MSV, Cathy 1st FV and Dan 2nd MJnr. Some great times from all the other CPT competitors, although one did a lap too many on the bike (not Jon H this year) and one not enough.

There are links to photos, results etc on the Race page. Here's one Brian took of Adam and Dan who were marshalling the junior bike/run course.

Other results from the weekend: Ironman Lanzarote, British Sprint Distance Championships at Eton Dorney, UK Cycling Devils MTB and Ironman 70.3 Barcelona (Kirsten, Selwyn & Anna wearing the 70.3 medals and t-shirts are pictured below).

Club league update 2

Report from Cathy Cooke, our Club League coordinator

Two more races to add to the Club league - Mallorca Half Ironman and East Grinstead Sprint Tri - well done to all those who raced. Tut tut to a few of you who didn't have your name on the race matrix so don't have your results included - rules is rules! - even for tardy Committee members.... :-)
Well done to Greg Lewis who got another top score in his gender/age category (for the club league) with first place in male super vets at East Grinstead.
Latest standings are now:
Female Seniors: Suse Fairfax. Natasha Raggett, Lisa Buchanan
Female Vets: Cathy Cooke, Kati Pusey, Ruki Sidhwa
Female Super-vets: Louise Alan Smith, Karen Ayers, Sally Kidson

Male Seniors: Rob Parry, Mike Dowds, Andrew Tappin
Male Vets: Graeme Blair, Jon Horsman, Josh Groenendijk
Male Supervets: Greg Lewis, Mark Thomas, Brian Morris

According to the race matrix, the next race to qualify for Club league points is White Oak tri (on 8 June). <ake sure you (including Mr Social Secretary!) put your name down on the race matrix

London League Update (after Race 3)

Report by Rob Parry, our racing coordinator

I’ve been holding off on reporting back on Thames Turbo from the first May bank holiday, until the London region updated the scores. They haven’t calculated the individuals, but have sorted the team scores so we can crack on with that.

I’ve come to realise that, despite its shortcomings (rough roads and speed bumps on the bike course and the 7 minute ‘dead zone’ between the bike and T2 to allow safe navigation of a crossing), Thames Turbo is one of those races you have to do at least once, given its heritage and brilliant atmosphere. The shortcomings can be turned into positives, as the bike leg can be attacked as a time trial-style ‘all-out’ to the finish (or at least it can be if unlike me you remember when the finish is coming up!), with various tactics for how best to use your 7min break (use the full time to spin and recover? Race to  T2 before you start to cool down?)

Anyway, I digress. Just to say good fun race, although absolutely no point entering the 3rd and 4th races in the series this year as they are not part of the London League ;-)

So onto the team positions after Round 3:

Mixed Team (Rob Parry, Mark Thomas, Andy McRobbie, Cathy Cooke and Jane Ford): Hanging onto joint 2nd, although Serpies are flying away with this one.
Male Team (Rob, Mark and Andy): Back to first lads, although sharing that with Ful-On and SLH…
Female Team (Cathy, Jane and Louise Alan-Smith): Down to 4th Ladies, although not out of the running yet!
Mob Match (all of the above plus Josh Groenendijk, Vic Thompson, Martin Leat, Daniel Hassett, Hans Geberbauer, Andre Whyte, Andreas Bajohra, Daniel Doyle, Marie Chorley and Jilly Dolphin) : We are back on top! 1 point ahead of Serpies.

Round 4 – our own Crystal Palace Triathlon will be reported soon.

The Windrush Aquathlon is already full so please consider entering Splash and Dash and London Fields.

We had nine teams representing CPT at this year's Beckenham Relays.

Lisa says "We didn't do bad for a bunch of triathletes".

Andrew, Lisa and John were 3rd mixed team.

Thanks to Emily for organising the teams and Brian for donning his professional photographer hat!

Weekend results and Club Champs - 11 May

Well done to everyone who raced at a very cold and windy East Grinstead Sprint Triathlon yesterday. Despite the wind there were a number of PBs for Rob, Greg, Andy, Lisa and Emanuele, as well as podium places, if not prizes, for Rob (3rd MS), Greg (1st MSV), Richard (2nd MSV), Cathy (3rd FV) and Sally (1st FV60+). Greg and Sally both got trophies, a buff, a bottle of cava and a flapjack! Congratulations!

Our 2014 Sprint Club Champions are Rob Parry, Greg Lewis and Andy McRobbie and for the females Lisa Buchanan, Cathy Cooke and Emma Snowdon.

Claire and Darren at East GrinsteadThe new ZeroD kit made it's first appearance and looked very smart, although without any identification on the back, it was hard to tell who you were following or hoping to overtake!

Thanks also to Darren and Mitch for their support.

Bill at Marshman

Dan opted for the shorter East Grinstead Youth race where he came 2nd. Pictured below.

Meanwhile, Graeme and Steve raced the Big East Challenge Triathlon, where it looks as though the open water swim was shortened.

Also on Sunday, Bill raced an extremely windy Marshman. He's pictured on the right on the scenic run course!

Ironman 70.3 Mallorca

Congratulations to our members who completed Ironman 70.3 Mallorca yesterday. Hopefully they had better weather than we had today at East Grinstead!

Club League update 1

Report from Cathy Cooke, our Club League coordinator

Sorry for being a complete slacker and not giving any updates on the Club League (not to be confused with the London League - this is just us!). As such, I have four race results to report on:
Kingfisher Aquathlon - well done to Greg Lewis and Suse Fairfax who both won their respective age/gender categories.
7Oaks Triathlon - we had seven members competing so results count towards club league
Ful-On Duathlon - Five members raced
Thames Turbo - 17 members competing
Current top three standings in each category are:
Female Seniors: 1 Suse Fairfax, 2 Natasha Raggett, 3 Lisa Buchanan
Female Vets: 1 Cathy Cooke, 2 Kati Pusey, 3 Ruki Sidhwa
Female Supervets: 1 Louise Alan-Smith, 2 Jilly Dolphin
Male Seniors: 1 Rob Parry, 2 Michael Dowds, 3 Andrew Tappin
Male Vets: 1 Jon Horsman, 2 Graeme Blair, 3 Joshua Groenendijk
Male Supervets: 1 Greg Lewis, 2 Mark Thomas, 3 Brian Morris
If your name isn't on the race matrix then your results won't be included for the Club League - please let us know which races you are doing.
According to the race matrix the next event to qualify for our Club League is East Grinstead Sprint Tri (also Club Champs).

London League Update - Race 2

Report by Rob Parry, our racing coordinator

Last Sunday saw Round 2 of London League 2014 take place with the Ful-On duathlon at the Top Gear test track, where our contingent faced mission impossible in defending our position in some of the competitions given they were so short in numbers, to the extent that we were unable to score points for the Females and Mixed Teams.

Good work to the men's team, Andrew Tappin, Mark Brown and Andy McRobbie, and the mob match team of these three plus Andy Eddleston, Anna Jackson and Rob Buckler. After this second round of eight, CPT stand as follows:

Men's Team: 3rd
Women's Team: 6th
Mixed Team: 5th
Mob Match: 2nd

And check out what the region has reported - have they written us off already??!:

"After the Kingfisher duathlon last weekend, it seemed as though Crystal Palace were going to walk away with all the accolades once again, however the other London clubs have responded across all competitions, setting up a very interesting season ahead!"

Guys, all is not lost! They will only count our four best results across the eight races, so we have everything to play for.

The results, team standings and individual age group rankings can be found here:
LL2014 Team Standings
LL2014 Individual Age Group Rankings (congrats to Age Group leaders Andy McRobbie in the M30-34 and Greg Lewis in the M50-54)

LL2014 Round 2 Ful-On Duathlon

London League races are filling quickly (Windrush is already sold out) so get your entries in ASAP!

If you would like to support Audrey's challenge and help buy the bikes they will be riding to donate to the local community, please visit her fundraising page.

Good luck, Audrey!
