This is a reminder that your Club membership is due for renewal by 31 January 2014. You must renew online.
If you are not planning on renewing in 2014 please let Lisa know, otherwise she will be chasing you up!
We would also like to encourage members to pay the Annual training fee, as this offers extremely good value, even if you are only planning to attend one session a week. The annual training fee needs to be paid separately from the membership subscription. Details of how to pay can be found on the Annual training fee page.
Club Championship and London League races 2014
The CPT Club Champs are club 'races within races', meaning that whilst you will all be officially competing with the other participants in these events, you will more importantly be competing against your fellow Club mates. The fastest CPT Male and Female at each event will be crowned Club Champions! As lots of Club members focus on these races, they also double up as a great social occasion.
The events chosen for 2014 are:
Sunday 13 April
Aquathlon Kingfisher (entries open now)
Sunday 26 October
Jekyll & Hyde (entries usually open late summer)
London League 2014
This is the official Triathlon London Region London League for 2014. Not to be confused with the Club Champs or the Club League (that is made up of the CPT Club Champs + London League events, + any multisport race where at least five CPT members compete).
As you can see, we have chosen two of the London League races as CPT Club Champs, so you get to double up and kill two birds with one stone with these ones. We have also made sure we have not caused clashes with the other events, so please target as many London League events as you possibly can (except our own Crystal Palace race where we'll need you all to marshall).:
Lastly for now, just to mention there are going be a few changes to the team structure for the London League next year, that will affect the mob match contest too. These are being finalised within the Triathlon London committee, and we will let you know when they have been officially announced.
Any questions on any of these competition structures, individual races, or anything racing-related, please don't be shy and ask Rob and he'll do his best to help demystify anything you're unsure of.
There's a change to the scheduled Santa Run on Wednesday evening. You obviously haven't been good enough during the year so evil Santa has decided to punish you all with one last hill rep session to celebrate the festive season!
Emily has instructions from Santa to make you work hard on College Road but, as this is the last run before the big feast, if you make it count you can celebrate with a post-run drink in the Dulwich Woodhouse before heading back to Crystal Palace Station.
Thanks very much to Selwyn for organising a great night at the Beckenham Cricket Club.
The evening kicked off with a hot buffet and sparkling wine, followed by the awards presentation for the various Club Championships and Club League as well as trophies for our winning London League team and for those who contributed the most mob match entries.
Marcel and Lauren were the Long Distance champions, with the Coach's award going to Lisa and the Ridings Trophy to Sheila. Jon won this year's wooden spoon award for doing 10 laps instead of nine at the Crystal Palace Triathlon, for the second time!
Jon presented his usual fun awards, amongst these awards Rob was presented with a knight's helmet, shield, sword and tabbard for conquering the London League, Selwyn won the Fray Bentos award for nutrition and Kevin won the 'hard as nails' award.
Apologies to all our coaches for not thanking them on the night, Selwyn's running order got lost along the way, and a very big thank you for the lovely bouquet of flowers presented to me for all the work I do for the Club, much appreciated.
Thanks also to Karen Lord and Mark Hoolahan for baking an amazing selection of 20th anniversary cakes.
Great photos from Brian:.
Fun was also had in the props corner!
Congratulations to Rob for finishing 8th overall at the Mudman Duathlon this morning. He didn't add to his 2013 trophy collection, but as he wasn't feeling well, we'll let him off!
Welcome to new members Ruairi Kay and Graeme Blair.
