Three hardy CPT members took on the Wildman Duathlon on an army testing ground near Aldershot. Rob said it was brutal. Unfortunately Kevin didn't finish as he had a mechanical – his rear mech fell off.
CPT were also represented at the Stratford Upon Avon Half Marathon. Ruki says "the race was interesting - and thankfully not as mentally tough as we had feared when we found out it was four laps around an old airfield. There were lots of out and back 'fingers' off the main course to keep your mind active - it was into the wind in places but otherwise after a chilly start, it was ideal weather really.
Glyn was on Phil's shoulder most of the way and then overtook him on the last lap.... we were all back within 10 minutes of each other and enjoyed the rest of the day catching up with Dawn, Riaz and Alby and then eating and drinking far too much but all felt we deserved it!!".
Fireworks at HHV
Selwyn organised some post-workout refreshments and sparklers at HHV on 5 November. More photos have been posted on our Facebook page, so Like the page to see the latest info and photos.
Sunday ride - 17 November
Thanks to Dean for leading today's ride out to Edenbridge. There were 12 of us at Elmers End but unfortunately Rob B didn't make it any further. His cleat broke and he had to turn back before he'd even started! Dan didn't even make it as far as Elmers End after suffering two mechanicals, a snapped mud guard and rear deraileur.
The rest of us headed up Layhams Road, keeping pretty much in one group. Emma peeled off towards Westerham and the peleton to Edenbridge and the joy of Ide Hill. The group split up around Keston with riders heading in different directions and speeds.
Adam and I finished the ride with a climb up Anerley Hill and some well earned light refreshment in Cadence. Including my ride to and from Elmers End clocked up 95k with just under four hours of riding.
CPTriangle pub crawl
Thanks to Selwyn for organising the end of season pub crawl, which started at The Paxton at 13:00 and continued up Gypsy Hill and round the Triangle finishing at Westow House.
I think there were probably a few sore heads this morning! Big Phil was spotted heading out on the bike just as the rest of us returned to Elmers End and Rob P didn't make it at all, although he promised to be there.
There are two more opportunities to socialise coming up, the AGM on 2 December (see details on the right) and the Christmas party, awards presentation and 20th anniversary celebration on 6 December. If you haven't already let Selwyn know you are attending, please do so before next Friday so he can ensure there's enough food to absorb all the celebratory drinking!
Post Jekyll & Hyde Club League update
Well done to all those who raced at Jekyll and Hyde on 27 October and got another score to add to their Club League points. Especially well done to those who won their age/gender categories and got top points - Kati Pusey and Greg Lewis.
Not sure yet if this was the last race to qualify for Club League points - all duathlons/aquathlons/triathlons with 5+ CPT members racing up until the Club Christmas party/awards dinner at the beginning of December will count. At the moment the race matrix doesn't show any more such races that qualify but that may change yet.
Top three in each category (who have completed the minimum three events) are now:
Female seniors: Suse Fairfax, Cathy Cooke, Lauren Whitmore
Female vets: Kati Pusey, Ruki Sidhwa, Sue Rowlands
Female supervets: Louise Alan-Smith, Sally Kidson, Karen Ayers
Male seniors: Rob Parry, Andy McRobbie, Marcel Garrad
Male vets: Jon Horsman, Mark Thomas, Victor Thompson
Male supervets: Greg Lewis, Brian Morris, Noel Murphy

AGM and Cadence winter training talk
Another reminder that our AGM takes place on Monday 2 December at 20:00 at Cadence, where food and drink will be provided.
Our meeting is preceded by a Cadence info session on winter training for triathlon - it is free but you do need to register using the link above. Looks interesting and starts at 18:30.
Jekyll & Hyde Duathlon belated results
Very sorry for the late results. I was away in Spain for 10 days then had all sorts of computer issues following a Windows 7 upgrade.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the J&H Duathlon, especially Greg and Kati on winning their age groups, to Haydn, Suse and Louise on coming second in their age groups and to Suse and Lisa on PBs.
London League Champions 2013
I know it's old news now, but I thought it was still worth recording as it's such an amazing achievement for CPT.
The final battle of the Triathlon London League 2013 was fought at the Jekyll and Hyde Duathlon and we are the Champions!
The Serpies put on a great event as usual, and we couldn't have been luckier with the weather. Anyone who has been following the League results will know that London Fields Tri Club needed an overall win at J&H in order to take the series from us. Whilst they did actually beat us, the overall win went jointly to the Serpies and Clapham Chasers, meaning we maintain the best score over four races and therefore take the series!!!
The mob match title goes jointly o CPT and LFTC.
So, the London League Team for this race was......
Peter Mack and
And the Mob Match team was the above, plus....
Andy McRobbie; Victor Thompson; John Bucanan; Marcel Hans Garrad; Haydn Whitmore; Lisa Buchanan; Andy Eddleston; Jane Ford; Kati Pusey; Gary Blunt; Lousie Alan-Smith and Emily Parry.
You can see who has made up the team and mob match throughout the year on the London League page.
Keith says "Nice one, that's great. apologies for not helping out or making it to the pub! Just got back from Essex and the national off road duathlon champs... What a farce. So many people went wrong in so many places I don't think anyone did the same route. They ended up cancelling the race before it was even finished and I don't think anyone will be crowned with the title!! Rubbish. Should have done J&H. :-("
Belated congratulations to Rob Parry on winning the Mud & Mayhem Duathlon off-road duathlon. Also on 10 November, Andrew raced at the Anglian Water Duathlon.
Welcome to new members Eddie Clarke, Josie Dow, Ella Fisher and Daniel Hassett.
