We had a good turn-out for the paced run on Sunday 4th March. Bernie, Fintan, Dave, Audrey, Karen, Lauren, Rob and Haydn all braved Richmond Park for a paced training run, even though the weather forecast was pretty grim. Luckily the rain held off until we'd virtually all finished but it was quite windy towards the end of the last lap and that nasty little hill at the finish hadn't been flattened since the last time I'd done the event! Audrey ran the furthest she'd ever run before and Karen knocked 13 minutes of her time in 2004! Fintan upset everyone by declaring that his GPS showed that it was only 14.4 miles not the advertised 15 miles!
Three CPT members ran the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon on Sunday 18th February. Greg ran as CPT but John and Andrea were representing their running club, Beckenham. See results.
Phil recommends this sportive which takes place on 16th September. The number of riders is limited to 600 and places are rapidly being taken up. You can download an entry form from their website.
Carl Ferri took part in the Sydenham Wheelers reliability trial on Sunday 18th Februray. Carl finished the 107k in 3 hours and 35 minutes and quotes "Boy it was tough, very good cyclists driving the pace with an undulating course and Star Hill to tackle at the end!".
The newly refurbished, and not yet open to the public, Tooting Bec Lido will host the Cold Water Swimming Championships on Saturday 24th March. Unfortunately this clashes with the next Club training morning, but if you aren't attending you can enter or volunteer to help out at the event. Further details are available on the Lido website.

life-threatening condition in the UK, as well as providing support for
parents and sufferers.

There were 12 CPT members, including Carl, out for the muddy and slippery social run on Saturday 10th February. There were a few short cuts for the ladies who were happy to do a slightly shorter route and some icey streams to paddle in along the way! After a two hour run, we gathered in the car park for a winter picnic, home made soup, home baked strudel, birthday cake, tea cakes, tea and mulled wine! We've just got to get the mud out from under our toenails now!

Some of the CPT coaches, John Sullivan, Jon Horsman and Phil Taylor, will be coaching at a training weekend set in a quiet location offering excellent cycling routes, running on/off road and enough swimming opportunity to make your skin wrinkle and toes curl!
You will not find better value anywhere, £89 for accommodation, all coaching and seminars, use of facilities and entertainment in the evening.
The weekend is aimed at all abilities so get your place reserved before they all go. This should be especially beneficial to those who have just joined the club and are new to triathlon.
