2015 junior news - September
World Biathle Champs for Pentathlon GB
Crystal Palace Triathletes juniors Alex and Christo Chilton headed to the World Biathle Championships in Batumi last weekend as part of the GB Team under Pentathlon GB.
Thirty-two countries were competing. It was a fantastic experience to go abroad as part of a sport team and the GB Team was peppered with triathletes from all over the country.
The race is a continuous run/open water swim/run format and had heats and the final on the same day in sweltering heat (even the sea was 28).
Alex had a great race, but didn’t qualify for the finals - next time! Christo made it through to the finals and just took the gold on the line from one of the South African athletes and the age-group team won silver too. It felt very lucky to have gone and had such a fantastic experience.

Lastly....but not least, a huge Crystal Palace thanks go to Jim Desmond (Junior region coordinator) who gave up his time to pull together the events in the junior series, liaised with 10 event organisers and undertook the mammoth task of producing and publishing the results, which he does extremely promptly after each event.
If you have any feedback on the Series then please do let Jim know – this can be positive relating to aspects that worked well, or suggestions for improvement – it is only by hearing views that the series will evolve into the best it can be.
