Belated Thames Turbo Aquathlon race report

Alan - Thames Turbo race reportReport by Alan Klejn

Hampton. The most royal of places with the Hampton Court – was home to many great monarchs such as Henry VIII, Queen Mary I, with many great kings and queens. But, once again, pointing in the sporting direction, we have the brilliant Thames Turbo who is doing amazing in the League, with the likes of Spencer Bateman, Naomi Thorpe and many more cunning Triathletes.  So, on the 15th of June, Kyle Ruth, set off for the Thames Turbo Aquathlon (results below).

The racing order was a bit jumbled up. It went – Tristart, Tri-Star 1, Tri-Star 3, Youths, Tri-Star 2. So if you think the paragraphs are in the wrong order, read this: that’s how it was set up. During the race boys and girls were competing separately, which was a change.

So first off we had the Tri-starts starting off the day. They had a 50m swim and a 500m run, which they blitzed, the winner completed the course in an astonishing 3:32 min.

The weather wasn’t like the other events in the series; no sun came out except for the last minute when it came out just for 20 seconds. But it wasn’t a big deal, apart from the refreshing drizzle, which could give some people a cold. Clouds surrounded the place, but it was no reason not to have fun; I still had tons of it. So if the weather isn’t sunny spells, its gloomy clouds, cheer up and have fun!

After the Tri-starts came the Tri-Star 1s. We were really focused and I could see how they felt at the swim start – Focused. Everybody was extremely focused, me as well. And the results showed how concentrated we were. The run was dominated by Christo with his 6:03 min.

Tri-Star 1 Boys 1st Christo Chilton  – CPT – 9:21 min

At Thames Turbo I made some new friends. Most of them were from Thames Turbo. I think it is a very good think to have friends from rivalling clubs.

After this we had the Tri-Star 3s. Their tiring race consisted of a 300m swim and a 3 kilometre run.

Tri-Star 3 Boys
1st Michael Eagling – CPT – 15:08 min
3rd Reef Boekericke  – CPT – 16:08 min

In my eyes I saw Thames Turbo as a quite small event. If you saw the size of transition you’d see that it wasn’t actually that big and it was quite surprising for me. It made me realise that every competition has got its limits… I guess that’s theirs.

After The Tri-Star 3s had finished their race, out on the run course, the youths stepped in to dominate. They really rocked their boat with their splits over their 350m swim and their 3.5KM run.

Last but not the least was the Tri-Star 2s who took that extra step, or should I say extra stroke, with an extra 50m. Their 250m swim was followed by a 2KM run which they smashed.

It was really nice; racing at Thames Turbo. I really enjoyed it and I’d love to do it again anytime. I really do congratulate everybody though on both sides – the friendship side and the sporting side. I made a rival into a friend there and I really am happy about that. So maybe you do that; maybe turn a rival into friend, it’ll be fun. Thank you to all at Thames Turbo and all who were competing. You provided everyone with a wonderful atmosphere which really helped support the aquathlon.

Congratulations to the record breaking 39 CPT juniors who took part in the Trinity Triathlon. You all did the Club proud by wearing Club colours and putting all your training into practice. An additional well done goes to Christo, Lottie, Reef, Elle and Alex Y for their podium places.

Thank you to Jon H for arranging the picnic games and a special thank you to all the CPT volunteer marshals that who gave up their morning to make the race possible! (results below / full results). Greenwich Aquathlon

What a great representation of CPT juniors at the Greenwich Aquathlon (results below).

Well done to everyone who raced, there were some great finishes for the line and brilliant support for everyone.

Aside from the racing, there was the tattoo parlour, the footy match, the T3 girls human pyramid, the water fight! Fun was had by all.

Latest event scores are on the London Region website and full results are available on StuWeb's site.
