Another Hatch End Triathlon race report

Alan at Hatch EndAlan Klejn has also written a race report from the Hatch End Triathlon on 11 May.

Alan's report has been published on the London Region website, so I won't repeat here, but you can read Alan's report and look at Ralph's photos.

Ralph also took some photographs at the Brockwell Lido session when Trinity was closed on 16 May. Matthew braved the water without a wetsuit!

Hatch End Triathlon - 11 May - results and race report

Congratulations to all the juniors who raced in difficult conditions at Hatch End Triathlon last Sunday. In total we had 18 triathletes sporting their CPT kit and decorated with tattoos and graffiti! Well done! You all receive two Championship Points each. Additionally Christo, Lottie, Michael and Elle receive an extra point for their podium places. Results below.

Race report by Christo, Cailtin and Alex Chilton

CPT at Hatch EndIt was a wet and miserable day when we went to Hatch End Triathlon. But happily, CPT did really well. two firsts, one second and one third.

It made us feel really nervous as we queued to get into the pool and the queues were long.  The water was really warm and going into the water was very well organised. But I found the swim hard (Christo).

After a run across the tarmac we had to go into the transition to get our bikes - the marshalls helped by handing them to us which was great.

The harsh weather made the bike course particularly tough.   Some people had cross-tyres on so they were okay, but on road tyres people were slipping all over the place.  There were two crashes that we saw which looked quite painful.

Abi & Sumer at Hatch EndEveryone from CPT was really supportive - we could hear our names really loudly which definitely helped.

After we finished we raced off to watch all the other CPTers bringing it home and we saw some fantastic sprint finishes.

Then we went back under Alan's gazebo (which was a massive help!) and guzzled our picnic.  The entertainment was great there - Joseph and the towel was a particular highlight.

There were very nice organisers who helped us along the way.

So despite the chilly weather, it was a great day out.
