Blenheim Triathlon race report

Report by Dan Pinn

Dan exiting the swim at BlenheimApologies to Dan for not putting his race report up when I did the big catch-up after my holiday, this one got missed. Better late than never and still worth bonus Championship points!

Blenheim Triathlon was once again a fantastic event. Whether you were spectating or participating this event was an excellent weekend: the scenery, weather and the amazing management. All of these factors helped make the event one to remember.

We arrived on the Thursday and a weekend of working was lurking around the corner. But this year I was taking part in the Youth Elite race representing CPT. This therefore made me feel excited but there was also pressure on me to do well. The pressure was there because I was up against the best youth athletes from around the country; I wanted to get under an hour and I did. Even though I did not position well, it was a good experience and I will continue my training to get a bit closer to the standard of the youth elites.

Dan on his bike at BlenheimDoing this event was therefore an eye opener, this is due to the fact that all the people in my wave were true athletes and if I was to get anywhere near the standards of them I would need to focus on my training with CPT. So now I have been focusing on training and hopefully I will beat my PB next year.

Overall, the event was superb and everyone at Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and IMG made the event such a success. Apart from the coach crashing into the bridge the day before the event; everyone still got on with the event and I think that is why it was such a successful weekend. It just shows that no matter what obstacles come in the way they can always be beaten.

Photos and results can be seen on the June news page.
