Membership renewals due by 31 JanuaryA gentle reminder that you only have until Thursday 31 January to renew your membership. After this, you will have to rejoin as a new member, which means you will have to pay the joining fee on top of the annual membership.
If you do not intend on renewing, then please let Emily know.
Cancelled Junior session - Saturday 26 JanuaryAudrey says "For those who made it out today I am sorry that you had a wasted journey.
"There was still too much ice within the park (both on the paths and on the grass) so for health and safety reasons I thought it best to cancel the session".
Hopefully the weather is taking a turn for the better and we will be back to normal next Saturday.
Treasure Hunt - Saturday 2 FebruarySelwyn has confirmed details for the first CPT social event of 2013, the Treasure Hunt. It kicks off 14:00 at the Dulwich Woodhouse.
You can run/walk it in teams of two to three, juniors must be accompanied throughout by a responsible adult. It’s all on roads (sorry mud lovers) and there's a choice of two routes 5-7km (under 1 hour) or 10-12km (under 2 hours) plus a friendly helpline if you do decide to stray from the very easy route.
Well it is Pirate themed, so welcome to dress up for bonus points or proudly wear CPT kit to promote our Club and/or something warm!
Meet back at the Dulwich Woodhouse for a post Hunt drink!
Bring a writing implement on the day please!
Please let Selwyn know if you are planning to attend
Calling all parents - Junior workshop - 24 FebruaryOur junior section has gone from strength to strength for almost five years. We have seen a steady increase in membership and have celebrated great achievements by our young athletes. An extensive training programme has been developed, our coaches are fantastic and we can all be very proud of the hard work.
However we don't want to stop here!
We have recognised, especially with a large number of new members, that it is time to arrange an opportunity for our junior parents to give vital feedback, express their hopes and wishes, brainstorm ideas, have an input into the future development of our junior section....and of course also socialise and meet others.
The junior workshop will be held at 14:00 on 24 February.
We held such a workshop three years ago which was a great success and gave a lot of food for thought and a lot of the ideas are still being implemented to this date.
Please let Kati know if you are attending and she will confirm where the meeting will be held.
Saturday 26 January - change to sessionAudrey has been advised that it's still a bit patchy with snow at Crystal Palace so tomorrow's session will just be a run and will only be for an hour. Meet in the top car park at 09:30. The session will finish at 10:30. Please make sure you are dressed for the weather and wrap up, wear layers and a waterproof, just in case. Check the weather report before you leave.
Cycling at CadenceLooks as though the juniors enjoyed their session at Cadence today.
Snow cancellationsDue to the snow, tonight's swim at Trinity has been cancelled.
The junior ride tomorrow has also been cancelled. Jon has sent out an alternative arrangement for a limited number of members at Cadence. Please see email on the e-group and respond to Jon as soon as possible.
New memberWelcome to new member, Dan Pinn. Dan has been swimming at Trinity for the last couple of weeks and is now a fully paid up member.
Sign British Cycling's e-petitionPlease sign British Cycling's e-petition to the Department of Transport to requesting changes to the driving test to make cycle awareness a core part of driver training and testing with emphasis on how much space to give cyclists and how to safely overtake cyclists.
New Year Treasure Hunt - Saturday 2 February Selwyn, our new social coordinator, is organising a Club treasure hunt at 14:00 on Saturday 2 February in Dulwich Park. He says that's all you need to know for now - instead of your usual weeken run, why not come and do this instead?
It will be a good chance to meet and greet fellow Club members (adult and junior), hunt for treasure, have some fun (either on your own or as a team), with a 5k or 10k option and post-hunt celebratory drink in a local watering hole.
More details to follow on the e-group so keep your eyes open but save the date!
Mo Farah raffleBelated congratulations to Wil Hutchings who won the autographed photograph of Mo Farah at the Christmas party. The raffle raised £65 towards junior Club funds. Thank you to everyone for your support.
Thames Turbo vs Crystal Palace TriathletesCalling all juniors....calling all juniors. CPT have been challenged to a club duathlon race.
Thames Turbo vs Crystal Palace Triathletes
The age group races are on Saturday morning 9 February at Kempton Park race course, TW16, hosted by Thames Turbo. Juniors will score points for their Club to determine an overall club winner!
The race categories (ages shown are as at 31/12/13) will be Tristar 1 (9-10), Tristar 2 (11-12), Tristar 3 (13-14) and Youths (15-16).
The course is a 1.5km oval shaped flat tarmac surface, with no technical sections.
This is a great opportunity to come and have a go if you are new to racing or duathlons with lots of Club support. Or if you are an old hand, to see how you are doing early on in 2013 against your main competitors, with individual results published. It's fabulous of Thames Turbo to invite us over to try out one of their regular training venues. And it's free to enter.
Jon says he's expecting a great turn out so please let Sheila know if you are going to be there on the day..
Tadworth 10 - CPT junior spottedIt looks as though Isaac ran part of the way around the Tadworth 10 course with dad, Mark on Sunday 6 January. It's a tough, hilly two-lap course so perhaps Isaac just did one lap? You can see how Mark and mum, Brigit got on in the results listing.
Update: Isaac ran most of the second lap with Mark before pulling away with a couple of miles to go.
Ride stats - 5 JanuaryHere are approximate stats from yesterday's road rides.
