2012 junior news - October
41st 23:04 Greta Sharp (1st time)
The PBs page has been updated.
As the junior section continues to grow with different athletes at different sessions, Jon has decided to have three Athlete of the Month awards; one for swimming (both sessions), one for Saturday's bike and one for Monday's run.
The A of M award is designed to encourage all athletes to attend sessions regularly, motivate and enjoy their triathlon experience and is awarded each month with the loan of a cup and a cycle shirt (to be returned in good condition).
Congratulations to Lili Jenkins, Sumer Eaglestone and Thomas Giles who are the winners for the September / October.
Awards will be given out at club sessions.
Our Head Coach, Jon, has secured a 2-hour training slot for the

Welcome to our most recent joiners: Joshua Kubrycht-Ellis has joined Team Swift and Carla Silva, Team Don.
Congratulations to the nine juniors who ran in the Dulwich Park race on Sunday 8 Oct and well done to the following winners:
Alex 2 miles boys
Elle 2 miles girls
Lottie 1 mile girls
Thanks to the parents/supporters who ran in the 10k beforehand and then stayed on to cheer as well as to Karen, Bruce, Audrey and Brigit who all came along and supported the juniors.
After nine of the ten events in this year’s champs Team Don are leading Team Swift by 112 points (858 versus 746).
The last chance for Team Swift to pull off a stunning victory is our tenth event in the series on 16 November, the CPT Sprint Swim gala at Trinity School.
Alex attended the London Youth Games Awards Ceremony with Olympic Gold Medallist John Regis on Monday night.
Alex, as a Lewisham Youth Sports Amabassador, was selected to help Sir Steve Bullock - Mayor of Lewisham and Mike Peasland - CEO UK of Balfour Beatty to induct John Regis into the London Youth Games - Hall of Fame.
John Regis started his sporting career by representing Lewisham in athletics at the London Youth Games and it is hoped Alex, as one of this year's LYG Gold Medallists, may also go on to achieve his potential in the future!
Alex also met numerous other athletes including Olympic Gold Medal Cyclist Joanna Rowsell, Olympic Gold Medal runner Christine Ohuruogu and Olympian weight lifter Zoe Smith.
Whilst a number of CPT juniors were doing the Club Champs run at Dulwich Park, Isaac took on the 45 mile Ride of the Falling Leaves short course in a personal best time! He arrived at the finish so soon that the electronic timing had not yet been turned on.
It was Isaac’s aim to be the fastest this year but he thought he wasn't going to do it by about 2/3rd of the way round. So he and Dad, Mark, put the hammer down and the mission was accomplished. They slept well last night!
They finished in a time of 2:42:21. Congratulations!
Well done to everyone who raced in either the two mile or one mile race in glorious sunshine this morning.
Congratulations to Alex and Elle for being the first boy and girl to cross the two mile finish line and to Lottie for being the first girl in the mile run. They were all presented with their trophies by the Mayor of Southwark.
Congratulations to Lola who raced the London Fields Aquathlon (100m swim / 1k run) then rushed to Dulwich Park to take part in the Junior Club Championship run.
Lola completed the aquathlon in 09:19, 02:54 for the swim and 05:16 for the run.
Well done Lola!
