2012 junior news - January
London Schools Cross Country Championships - 25 January Parliament Hill I believe is one of the best places to hold a cross country because it is wet, muddy and hilly and that’s just why English athletics held the London schools cross country at Parliament Hill.
On a wet Wednesday we set of to Parliament Hill (north London) it was cold but not windy and it progressively got better throughout the day.
At 12.40 we were all milling around the start point to begin at 12.45.
When the race began I was surprised at the speed everyone took off (at sprinting pace) to get to the first corner. After 400 metres everyone eased up to a comfortable pace. I was quite far back at the start, so had to work up from 60th to top 10 and as everyone one slowed down I got there and then broke away with 500 metres to go and won the race. I was very pleased with my performance, the course suited me well.
