British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships Congratulations to Michael Ealing who competed at the British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships semi-final at
Crystal Palace on Sunday 13 February 2011 as part of the Oak Lodge Primary School Year 5 team.
Individually Michael finished 2nd overall with 2582 points, the same total as the winner, but with fractionally slower times, by 0.14 seconds in the 50m swim, and 0.28 seconds in the 500m run,
hence the placings. By finishing in the top 6 at the semi-final, Michael has automatically qualified as an individual for the Championship final, which will be at Crystal Palace on the 27 March.
Having finished third in the semi-final, the Oak Lodge team then had to wait for the overall rankings to be worked out from all three of the semi-finals, to find out that they too have qualified for the Championship final on 27 March.
Good luck for the final!
Lewisham Sports Awards A great night for CPT! Congratulations to James Allan who was awarded Lewisham Junior Sportsman of the Year for Biathlon, Triathlon and Cross Country; and to Alex Yee who was awarded 2nd Lewisham Junior Sportsman for Triathlon, London Youth Games and Mini Marathon. They were presented their prizes by Lewisham Mayor Sir Steve Bullock and Philips Idowu - World Triple Jump Champion.
Congratulations also go to Ron Yee who was awarded 3rd place in the catagory 'Volunteer of the Year' for services to Cycling and Triathlon.
Rod didn't take his camera as he, Alex and James all got prizes last year so he didnt expect anything this year! Hopefully there will be some official photos to add to this story soon.
Reminder from the webmaster: Never leave home without your camera!.
Time trial - 12 JanuarySaturday saw the second Junior Run Time Trial of 2011 and didn't dissapoint with all the youngsters givng their all. Each lap is approximately 1 km, with some completing two laps and the older/speedier juniors covering three laps. There was remarkable improvement from the January times, all athletes posting negative splits. I'm sure, at this rate, the 2011 season will be yet another great success for the CPT Juniors. A BIG thanks go to Harry Horsman and Alice Hoolahan. Both had reasons for not running but this didn't stop them helping. Harry helped with the timing whilst Alice ran round with the slower runners to encourage them and get them to the finish line.
Reception to recognise grassroot sport volunteersReport by Alice Hoolahan
On Thursday night I went up to London with my Mum. We were going to City Hall where there was a reception for Volunteers in Sport. We went with Karen who was National Volunteer of the Year 2010 and I was London's Young Volunteer of the Year 2010.
As we were checking in our coats I heard a very familiar voice booming out " Good evening good evening" and a vision in an old woolly hat with his trousers tucked in his sock was our mayor, Boris Johnson.
We went up to the 9th floor and from the balcony the view was amazing.
The Olympian Rowley Douglas made a speech about how important volunteers are in sport and how he wished all the people involved with his training could have stood on the podium with him to receive his gold medal.
It was a lovely evening and I'm glad I was invited, it was great to represent CPT with Karen.
Collect supermarket vouchers for the ClubIt's that time again!
We are collecting both Tesco for Schools and Clubs and Sainsburys Active Kids Vouchers.
With your support we did fantastically well last year and hope to do even better this year.
We thought we would aim for a swimming pace clock which would benefit both the adults and the juniors.
Please remember to collect as many vouchers as possible and to hand them to Sara/Karen/Sheila at any Club sessions.
We have until May to collect as many as we can, so get shopping!

This hoody will work as hard as you do! It is ideal for warm ups, cool downs, post race and just hanging out. It can be customised with your name and looks equally as good with jeans and crops as it does trackside. £18.50 + £2 customisation.
The super-slick CPT tri-suit is the ultimate race day item. Save valuable seconds in transition that will give you the crucial edge over the competition! It can be customised with you name on the back (see website). The name can be removed/replaced when you grow out of it and want to pass it on to a younger member. £47.50 including name.

Adult CPT kit for older juniors: cycle jackets and tri-suits
Cycle jackets: The club’s new adult cycle jackets, in smaller sizes, may fit some of the older juniors. The manufacturers, Endura, can make the sleeves shorter for a better fit. There is a minimum order requirement, but several members have expressed an interest already, so please let Karen know if you are interested.
Tri-suits: the smaller adult sizes will be suitable for those juniors getting too big for the junior kit. Contact Karen for more details.
For more information visit the kit page.
Speedy recoveryBest wishes from everyone at CPT go to Dominic who unfortunately broke his collarbone playing rugby during the week and to Alex who came off his bike on Saturday on the way to Elmers End and broke his wrist.
